As part of promotions for ‘Nene Raju Nene Manthri’, director Teja and Rana Daggubati have sat down for a bilateral interview that was telecasted on TV channels. To one of the question put up by Rana, the maverick director made some interesting comments on Telugu heroes and what factors drove him to choose Rana.
When Rana quizzed why he narrated the NRNM story to him, Teja replied – “This story cannot be narrated to regular Telugu heroes because they would not like it. Usually in our Telugu cinema, hero will be the savior and totally a righteous man- he will save everyone in the film. So, when I narrate this story-which has both positive and grey shades for lead role-every other actor would deny to do it. So, I was looking for an Intelligent actor who doesn’t care of his image and eventually, found you. I had met/worked with many heroes in the past- they are not very receptive and think they know everything and that’s where the complication arrives.”
He further added to Rana -‘I was aware that you’re open to my versatile subjects considering your prior work experience with noted directors like Ram Gopal Varma, Puri Jagannadh, Krish and Rajamouli would also help me.’
Known for making terse and straight comments, Teja sailed through several controversies in the past and he tasted a success after long years of wait.
