Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is known for treating people of his state with special gifts on festivals, has begun efforts to bring joy to as many as one crore Telangana women on the eve of Bathukamma and Dasara festival.
KCR has announced Sarees as gift to all Telangana women above 18 years of age irrespective of their caste, community or religion. These sarees will be distributed through ration shops to nearly 1 crore women on September 18, 19 and 20. Women should show their Aadhar or any other identity card to avail the benefit.
All the required stocks will be procured from handlooms and power loom sectors to support the weavers and workers. KCR vested the responsibility of making the programme a success on Industry and Textiles minister KTR.
The state government has earlier introduced cloth distribution to poor on Ramzan and Christmas festivals.
