We generally hear about records such as ‘1 Cr gross in single town’, ‘1 Cr gross in single theatre’ etc. only related to big films. However, a medium-budget film, made with relatively lesser popular actors and director has now accomplished the rarest feat of collecting Rs 1 Cr each in two theatres across the Telugu states.
The film that is making headlines by creating this unbelievable record is ‘Fidaa’. This Sekhar Kammula directorial starring Varun Tej and Sai Pallavi has reportedly collected Rs 1 Cr gross each in the Sudarshan 35MM theatre at RTC Cross Roads in Hyderabad and the iconic Jagadamba theatre in Vizag.
Some big hits starring star heroes have earlier collected 1 Cr in Sudrashan but Fidaa is the first film to gross 1 Cr in Jagadamba theatre. What makes this achievement even more stunning is the fact that Fidaa, being a film relying heavily on Telangana culture and slang, pulling off the feat in Vizag, AP.
This Dil Raju production venture has completed 50 days run in 85 theatres. The film has genuinely ran in all these theatres unlike some of the biggies of recent times which are run just for record purpose.
Fidaa is a stunning comeback from Sekhar Kammula, the first and much needed commercial success for Varun Tej, a memorable and career establishing launch for Sai Pallavi and a film that has cemented the position of Dil Raju as the most successful producer of this generation.
