SJ Surya is recognized as one of the top directors of Southern film industry as he has directed big stars like Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu, Ajith, Vijay etc. and scored some huge blockbusters. He however has gradually shifted his focus to acting, which he claims to be his passion, and is emerging as a leading villain.
Mahesh Babu’s latest film, SPYder might have failed to meet the expectations but SJ Surya’s acting as a psychotic villain stood out. His performance was unanimously praised and many even said that he completely overshadowed Mahesh. The actor-filmmaker has coincidentally portrayed a similar negative role in another biggie, Vijay’s ‘Mersal’, which hit screens for Diwali (Telugu version ‘Adirindhi’ will soon release in the Telugu states). SJ Surya’s acting as a menacing villain has once again received immense applause.
Referring both ‘SPYder’ and ‘Mersal’, many critics have specially pointed that Surya has emerged as a top contender to play the antagonist in star heroes’ films citing he can match their acting prowess, style, bring extra cruelty to characters with his eccentric mannerisms and versatility.
With such critical acclaim under his belt, SJ Surya is expected to become a most wanted villain in Telugu too.
