VK Sasikala, the close aide of late Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa, who has been serving jail term in Bengaluru in disproportionate assets case, is described in TN political circles as a mastermind. After learning what she had done when she recently came out on parole, people will be left in awe.
Sasikala has recently come out on parole in order to see her ailing husband in hospital. During this period, she has allegedly transferred or re-registered 622 properties linked to her. Income Tax sleuths, who had kept an eagle eye on her every move, raided her residence, offices, properties of her close aides, lawyers etc. a total of 190 places over five-days, and recovered documents showing evasion of about Rs 1,400 Cr Tax, and nearly Rs 30,000 Cr undisclosed income by the firms linked to her.
Following the five-day long marathon raids, the Income-Tax department is reportedly contemplating on questioning Sasikala in jail regarding the confiscated documents showing tax evasion and undisclosed income.
