Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday launched a counter-attack on Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for accusing the NDA government of creating hurdles in the construction of Polavaram project.
With media highlighting Naidu’s speech and his subsequent press conference throwing blame on the Centre for calling for cancellation of fresh tenders, the BJP leaders shot back at him, saying it was the state government which was behaving irresponsibly in this regard.
“What is there in the letter? It has just expressed certain genuine concerns including cost overruns and contractual litigations and wanted that the tenders be kept in abeyance till the state government gives a clarification.
What’s wrong it? If the state government officials try to mislead the Centre and the people, they would have to land up in jails,” senior BJP leader Raghunanth Babu told a channel during a discussion on Friday.
He said the Centre only said the change of contractors at this stage and selection of new contractor without taking the consent of the original contractor would only lead to court cases and inordinate delay in the project works.
“Without giving clarifications to these genuine concerns, why should the state government react so wildly? They should mind their language,” Babu said, without naming Naidu.
