Kohli Dethrones SRK, Becomes Most Valuable

The newly wed Team India skipper Virat Kohli has added another feather to his already enriched cap. He has become the most valuable Indian celebrity brand dethroning Bollywood king, Shah Rukh Khan. This is the first time someone pushed the superstar to No.2 ever since the beginning of rankings being given.

In the 2017 report titled ‘Rise of the Millennials: India’s Most Valuable Celebrity Brands’, Duff & Phelps, a global valuation and corporate finance advisor, said that Kohli topped the list of Indian celebs with brand value of $144 million. Shah Rukh Khan is placed 2nd with a value of $106 million. Deepika Padukone ($93 million), Akshay Kumar ($47 million) and Ranveer Singh ($42 million) complete the Top 5.

“Virat Kohli is now the first choice of brands to engage and attract consumers, fueled by his extraordinary on-field performances and off-field charisma,” said the report.

The dashing cricketer has just returned from honeymoon. It is known that he recently married Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma.

Former Team India captain MS Dhoni and Olympic Silver medalist PV Sindhu are the only other two sportspersons in the top 15 list that is dominated by Bollywood stars.
