None expected that two women-centric films will actually clash at Telugu box office for this Republic Day. Surprisingly we have Anushka’s Bhagamathie as a solo contender and then she’s joined by Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat. And here is what film lovers have to say about them.
Naturally, Bhagamathie will be the first choice of many Telugu movie lovers. Featuring Anushka in the lead, this film comes in the popular horror-thriller kinds of a genre that clicks quite well with Telugu audiences. But will it be a serious horror like Arundhati or a comedy horror like Raju Gari Gadhi is to be known. The success of the film depends on how interesting the flashback of Bhagamathie will be there, and how our Baahubali’s Devasena excels yet again.
Cut to Padmaavat, the film got a fair share of promotion, thanks to the controversies that engulfed it. And then, almost all the critics have unanimously rated the film as the best flick for its drama, lavishness and rich look. While there are no big war scenes like a Baahubali, this film will surely showcase the splendid culture and thought the process of 13-14th century. Those who love such big canvas dramas might run for this Deepika, Ranveer and Shahid Kapoor starrer directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Trade analysts are predicting that if Bhagamathie clicks well at the box office then Padmaavat will not have such a great run at Telugu box office as it will always look like a dubbed movie. But if Anushka’s film slows down, then Deepika will have a terrific advantage in the 3-day holiday weekend that is coming up.
