Telangana Rashtra Samithi MP from Nizamabad and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha is said to be evincing interest in playing a bigger role in the state after 2019 elections.According to party sources, Kavitha is learnt to have conveyed to her father that she would like to come into the state politics, rather than being confined to Parliament where she had no recognition.
In the next elections, Kavitha might contest the assembly elections, whether it is from Jagitial or Nizamabad or even Siddipet. In case Kavitha prefers Siddipet which is a safer seat, the TRS president might ask his nephew and irrigation minister T Harish Rao to move to Lok Sabha. However, she feigned ignorance about the plan when media persons asked her the same.
“I cannot say now whether Harish would contest for Lok Sabha or the assembly,” she said.Asked whether she would contest as an MLA in 2019 elections, Kavitha evaded a direct reply.“Party will decide my future. I have no interests and act as per the directions of the party,” she said.May be, if the situation arises, Kavitha might even be aspiring to succeed her father as the chief minister after 2019.
At present, her brother and IT minister K T Rama Rao is being projected as the successor of KCR. But if KCR decides, she, too, can become the chief minister. When reporters wanted to know who will succeed KCR, whether it would be KT Rama Rao or Kavitha, the Nizamabad MP laughed and quipped, “I am not an astrologer to tell the future and say who will succeed KCR. Time will decide who the political heir of KCR is.”
