Ace director SS Rajamouli likes to collaborate with the same technicians if he finds a chord with them. Music director MM Keeravani, Cinematographer Senthil and Editor Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao are his frequent collaborators.
Famed Art Director Ravinder can also be added to this list as he worked with Rajamouli on his last three films before ‘Baahubali’. Then, why didn’t he work for Baahubali? Has Rajamouli put him aside to rope in the acclaimed production designer, Sabu Syril?
Ranvinder, who has won accolades for his brilliant work in Anushka’s “Bhaagamathie”, revealed that Rajamouli had wanted him for Baahubali too, but he himself chosen to opt out. And, he claims to have no regrets for losing such an international blockbuster.
“When Baahubali was conceptualized, it was a single part film. Rajamouli asked me to work on the film but I wasn’t ready to give four years for a single film as I had several other commitments too,” Ravinder revealed why he chose to reject Baahubali.
“In those four years, I worked on 11 films and did a couple of big private projects too. I also materialized my dream of starting my own boutique. I didn’t lose anything by rejecting Baahubali. I am very happy that it became such a huge hit but I have no regrets about losing it,” he added.
Ravinder asserted that his relationship with Rajamouli is pretty much the same and that he is more than willing to work with him on his future projects.
