Akshay Kumar, the most versatile star of Indian cinema, has done it again. His new film, ‘Padman’, which released this Friday, is receiving big round of applause.’Pad’man is inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist from Tamil Nadu who introduced low-cost sanitary pads for women. How many star heroes would have braved to act in this film dealing with such a sensitive subject? Padman is Akshay’s another brave attempt after ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, which dealt with people’s perception about toilets in rural areas and how a man fought with a regressive society.
Akshay’s portrayal of a determined man who braves all odds to provide the Indian women sanitary pads, make them understand its essence and his fight with society in order to achieve his dream, has won applause from critics. The actor, director Balki and producer Twinkle Khanna (Akshay’s wife) are being praised for making a socially responsible film and narrating it an entertaining and thought provoking manner.
Padman collected 10.30 Cr net. on its opening at Indian box office. Trade experts predict the collections to grow over the weekend.
