Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Agrawal kicked a hornet’s nest in national politics with his “who used to dance and work in films” comment against senior heroine-turned-politician Jaya Bachchan. The criticism received was so scathing that BJP had to distance itself from his comments, calling them “improper and unacceptable”.
What’s agonizing BJP more is that Agrawal made those objectionable comments minutes after joining the Saffron party on Monday. He ditched Samajwadi Party (SP) and joined BJP on Monday. It was during his first speech as a BJP politician that he made those remarks.
He allegedly targeted Jaya Bachchan as SP had re-nominated her to Rajya Sabha over him. “I have been compared with those who dance and work in films,” Agrawal reportedly said.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra immediately shot down Agarwal’s comments and clarified that his party respects people from all fields and welcomes them in politics.
