V V Lakshminarayana, former joint director of Central Bureau of Investigation, who applied for voluntary retirement from his service, has already hinted at joining politics.
The IPS officer of Maharashtra cadre, who shot into limelight with his alleged witch-hunt of YSR Congress party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in 2012 besides his investigations into high profile cases like Satyam fraud, Obulapuram illegal mining and Emaar Properties scam, is weighing his options on how to make an entry into politics.
Initially, there was a talk that he might Jana Sena Party of Pawan Kalyan. Even the Jana Sena chief welcomed him into the party. Subsequentlhy, there was also a talk that he might join the Bharatiya Janata Party.
However, the latest talk doing rounds in the media circles is that he is planning to float his own political party in Andhra Pradesh. One does not know what his background is to launch a political party, but if he really takes a plunge in that direction, it is a big news.
Though Lakshminarayana used to be in the news, mostly for wrong reasons, during the days of CBI inquiry into Jagan’s case and for the way he sent the YSRC leader to jail. However, after he returned to his parent state of Maharashtra, people have forgotten him. He does not have any political background nor does he have any charisma to attract voters.
Moreover, there is no political space in Andhra with the TDP fighting strongly with YSR Congress party. Now, the TDP has to face multi-cornered contest including the BJP and the Jana Sena Party, besides Congress and the Left. Now, where will he fit in?The talk is that Lakshminarayana is planning to galvanise his Kapu-Balija community votes and win a few seats for his new political party.
May be Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is using him to split the Kapu votes and help the party indirectly, since the TDP is all set to lose the Kapu votes heavily because of sudden revolt from Pawan Kalyan.Watch out for more developments on this front!
