According to party insiders, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has informed TDP leaders and party MPs in New Delhi that he would not “beg” for a special status for Andhra Pradesh and that there was little chance of any kind of a reconciliation with the NDA. He made it clear that he would fight with the BJP.
Chandrababu, however, told party MPs that the fight would not be verbal or physical but only ideological i.e issue based. Since the Centre has done a gross injustice to AP, Naidu said that the focus would be on highlighting the Special Category Status and other bifurcation promises committed to AP – via AP Reorganization Act, on floor of house, poll campaign and manifesto. Chandrababu asked party MPs to doesn’t lose cool and asked them to fight for the rights of the state.
Meanwhile, national media has asked Chandrababu about joining the ‘National Front’, to which Naidu made it clear that his priority is to gather support from all major political parties for according Special Category Status to AP. Naidu said that ‘politics’ can wait since there is almost a year time for the next general elections. Chandrababu said all he was focusing right now is to get due benefits to the truncated state of Andhra Pradesh.
