In an unexpected twist, the City Civil Court has ordered a total ban on the public screenings of Rajasekhar’s comeback movie ‘PSV Garuda Vega 126.18M’ at least 6 months after its theatrical release. The court has sent notices to Garuda Vega’s director and producer and YouTube India, asking them to not screen the movie anywhere including theatrical and digital exhibition.
The judgement came after a petition filed against the movie by the Uranium Corporation of India (UCI). The UCI lawyers argued that the movie had portrayed the UCI in poor light. The UCI is a subsidiary of the Government of India’s Department of Atomic Energy.
The UCI alleged that Garuda Vega’s story is about how a National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer (played by Rajasekhar) unearths a huge Uranium and Thorium scam at the UCI’s Thummalapalli Uranium plant. The petition mentioned that the film portrayed that the Thummalapalli constituency’s MLA, Home Minister Central Home Ministry officials and UCI Chairman were part of the scam. The next hearing will be after 4 weeks.
