In a startling statement, the BJP’s Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb said that the Internet existed even during the Mahabharata period. Needless to say, the CM’s comments have become a nationwide trending topic.
Speaking at a Regional Workshop on Computerisation and Reforms at Pragna Bhawan in Agartala on Tuesday, Biplab Kumar Deb said that Sanjay, the narrator of Mahabharat, narrated all the episodes of the Kurukshetra war to the blind King Dhritarashtra with the help of the internet.
‘This is the country where the episodes of the Mahabharat war were narrated to Dhritarashtra by Sanjay. This means technology was there, Internet was there, satellite was there.’ Deb said. The CM didn’t even leave the country’s pioneer tech organization National Informatics Centre (NIC), saying that the NIC is merely using the technology which was invented more than thousand years ago.
‘I congratulate the NIC for their jobs but you people didn’t discover technology. It was discovered much earlier. Even the European countries can claim that they have invented the technology but in reality, the technology was ours. My country is rich in culture,’ the CM said.
