Actor-turned-politician and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan, who has been waging a war against certain media houses owing allegiance to Telugu Desam Party for the last few days, landed in trouble on Friday with the police filing a criminal case against him.
Pawan was booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly tampering with a video telecast by TV9 and also for instigating protests against some media houses.
Telangana Union of Working Journalists has lodged the complaint with the Banjara Hills police station.
The police registered a case under IPC sections 469, 504 and 506 against Pawan and his associates whose names were not mentioned in the first information report (FIR).
The police, in their investigation, found that the evidence produced by TV9 stating that Pawan, president of Jana Sena Party, had tampered with the video was tampered with.
The video pertains to a vulgar comment and a filthy gesture made against him by an aspiring actress Sri Reddy a couple of weeks ago.
The channel claimed that it had muted the alleged foul comment made by Sri Reddy and also blurred her gesture. However, Pawan allegedly posted on Twitter the unedited video attributing it to TV9.
For the last few days, Pawan had been attacking Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his son Lokesh alleging that they, in collusion with a section of media houses were using Sri Reddy to malign his image.
