Sai Pallavi scored two back-to-back hits in Tollywood and gained a huge fan following. Thanks to this success, Sai Pallavi became extra demanding. She started giving statements like she will accept a movie only if she likes her character and even refused a handful of movies in the process.
There was also a criticism that Sai Pallavi gave a tough time to a young hero. Naga Shaurya openly criticised Sai Pallavi’s tanturms and even refused to promote Kanam in which Sai Pallavi had the main role. But Sai Pallavi singlehandedly took care of the promotions.
However, despite Sai Pallavi’s non-stop promotions, Kanam failed to create any buzz and even the film failed to create any impact at the box office. It looks like Sai Pallavi factor didn’t help the film at all as the film’s hero himself has deserted the movie. Had Naga Shaurya promoted Kanam, the success he had attained with Chalo would have helped Kanam a great deal.
South Indian movies have always given less importance to the female leads. If Sai Pallavi adamantly sticks to her decision of acting in movies only if she likes a particular character, she may end up doing movies like Kanam in future. All this craze may not last long and industrywallahs opine that it’s high time Sai Pallavi realised it and put an end to her ‘extras’.
