It is now clear that Tollywood will not put any restrictions on news media after the chairperson of Telangana Media Academy Allam Narayana mediated with Telugu film industry.
The industry bigwigs assured that there will not be any ban as such on the news media, but they will not promise anything about ads.
Allam Narayana too clarified that he had come over to talk about news and not about ads. Later, the News Editors’ Association sent out some points to the Tollywood industry.
Some are good and they raised valid points but two points show the channels are also waging war against Pawan Kalyan.
The most important point they have raised is how can Tollywood put a ban on news media, which is against the democratic spirit and legal frame. They also wondered what was wrong in raising the casting couch issue.
Additionally, they stressed on an important point: how can Jana Sena tweet about the Tollywood stars meeting? Is a particular party is dictating terms in Tollywood?
But sadly, the association also exposed their faults in the same questionnaire. It agreed that they did withhold Abhiram’s name in the beginning in the best interests of the movie industry.
So, the channels are openly admitting that they withhold or reveal some names as per their whims, not in the interest of public or journalistic values.
Another glaring point is that they spoke about caste. The News Editors’ Association termed that the meetings of Tollywood have become caste meetings. But fact is that all stars from kamma to kapu have attended the meet. Majority of the stars present were kammas.
On the other hand, the majority of ‘yellow media’ is dominated (who run the channels) by one community.
Although Tollywood as an industry will not put any ban on news media, Pawan Kalyan the Jana Sena leader is hell-bent on boycotting the ‘yellow’ media. His party is going all out with videos and posts on social media. A latest videos consisting of bytes of Mahesh Babu, Puri Jagannadh and other celebrities against ‘yellow media’ is being widely circulated by Jana Sena social media team.
