The gruesome rape of a 9-yr-old girl by 55-yr-old Subbaiah has led to a huge uproar in Dachepalli town of Guntur district, near AP’s capital city Amaravati. Protesters took to streets in the town in large numbers demanding justice for the girl. The angry mob have attacked the house of accused Subbaiah and demolished his house while he is on a run.
For nearly six hours yesterday, protesters blocked the highway in the area, burnt tyres and raised slogans. Later, a group of angry protesters has also caught the accused’s son and beat him, however, cops rescued him last night. Accused Subbaiah is a rickshaw puller.
AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has condemned the heinous rape act against minor girl and said the culprit will be brought under book. He said the government will not tolerate crimes against women, children. Meanwhile, Naidu has monitored the law and order situation at Dachepalli. Special forces have been deployed to take care of the situation. A manhunt has been launched. Guntur SP Appala Naidu told media that a search is on and the accused will be arrested soon.
According to reports, it is suspected that Subbaiah could have been fled to Mumbai. AP police have alerted Maharashtra police.
After Kathua and Unnao incidents, the rape of a minor in AP has drawn the attention of the nation. CM Chandrababu is closely monitoring the situation.
