When Galla Aruna was in the Congress party, she enjoyed tremendous clout in Chittoor district.During Y S Rajasekhar Reddy regime, she was an uncrowned queen in Chandragiri and she had done so much for her followers. But she lost all her glory after she joined the TDP.
She lost her seat to YSR Congress leader Chevireddi Bhaskar Reddy and that was the end of her hold.Though her son Galla Jayadev became an MP from Guntur, it did not help her in any manner in Chandragiri. Finally, Galla seems to have decided to call it quits to active politics. She recently announced her resignation as TDP in-charge for Chandragiri.
On Wednesday, she held a meeting of her followers and told them that she would not like to contest elections any more.Galla was in tears for not able to do anything for her followers, as she used to do in the past. She, however, refuted the rumours that she might quit the TDP and join the YSR Congress party.
“There is no question of changing the party, but will not contest elections. Party president and CM Chandrababu Naidu wanted me to suggest any of my family members for the constituency in my place,” she said.
