More Sops From Naidu Ahead Of Polls!

As the elections to Andhra Pradesh assembly are fast approaching, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is taking out more and more sops from his pocket to woo the electorate.

A couple of days ago, Naidu came out with a populist scheme of doubling the pensions for old aged persons and the disabled with effect from January 1. He described it as a Sankranti gift for the old people under NTR Bharosa scheme.

Now, the latest news is that Naidu will announce pensions for both husband and wife who have turned 60 years under the scheme.

As of now, the state government has been providing pension to one person per a family. Now, Naidu will extend the pension to both the spouses.

This will be a good gesture towards the old-aged persons who are neglected by their children. Needless to say, it is also aimed at winning the support of the people in the ensuing elections.

It is learnt Naidu asked the officials to prepare a feasibility report on how to implement the pension scheme to multiple number of beneficiaries in a house-hold. It is most likely to get the Cabinet nod on January 21.

The government is also planning to increase the eligibility criteria for the disabled to get the pension under NTR Bharosa scheme.

The chief minister has already announced clearing of all the pending farm loans waivers by January end, so that he can make a fresh announcement of farm loan waiver scheme in the state.

He also planned to introduce Rythu Bandhu scheme being implemented in Telangana in which farmers would get Rs 4,000 per acre per season towards investment support.

However, he wants to wait till the Centre announces the scheme, so that he can add additional Rs 1,000 per acre per season to implement the same in the state.
