The Congress party might have declared that it will not have any pre-election alliance with the Telugu Desam Party in the ensuing general elections in Andhra Pradesh, but it is ready to have an alliance with YSR Congress party headed by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and Jana Sena Party headed by actor Pawan Kalyan.
Well, this was the opinion of senior Congress leader and former MP from Tirupati Chinta Mohan.
He told media in Tirupati on Thursday that the Congress was ready to ally with YSRC for Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections if Jagan Reddy had no objection.
“if the alliance materializes, we don’t mind giving the chief minister post to Jagan,” he said.
In the same breath, Chinta Mohan also said the Congress was also ready to ally with Jana Sena Party.
He said that Pawan Kalyan was the brother of Chiranjeevi, who belonged to the Congress, so there would be nothing wrong in having an alliance with Jana Sena.
However, the Congress leader said the comments were entirely his personal opinions, but said he would talk to the high command about these alliances if necessary.
Chinta Mohan hailed the party’s decision to contesting alone and not joining hands with TDP for coming polls in AP.
He said the Congress would have to face serious troubles had it allied with the TDP in AP, as had happened in Telangana.
“The Congress party is not ready to repeat the same mistake,” he said.
Meanwhile, APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy lashed out at YSRCP for alleging that the Congress was contesting the election in AP alone only to split the anti-establishment votes, so as to benefit the TDP.
“It is utterly ridiculous and shameless on the part of the YSRC to make such allegations,” he said.
