A report stating that 3.7 crore voters’ privacy has been breached in a data theft attempt is doing rounds. According to YSRCP MP Vijay Sai Reddy, Telugu Desam Party app has data of 3.7 crore voters including all their details and believes that this will be misused by the yellow party in the upcoming elections.
The YSRCP MP has complained to Cyberabad police in this regard. However, an FIR has not been filed. The party has alleged that the data has been used by the app from the state Resident Data Hub (SRDH) which is openly available. The data has been used by the app-making company IT Grids which is based in Hyderabad.
However, sources say that it cannot be a case of data breach as the data is openly available. According to YSRCP, the Election Commission and UIDAI have launched a probe into this. But, political observers say that the report doesn’t mention of any official probe nor does it have responses from UIDAI or Election Commission sources.
On the other hand, political observers say that this could be another strategy of YSR Congress party to corner Telugu Desam Party and expose an alleged “conspiracy” by using Cyberabad police to investigate into this case and escalate it to central agencies for probe.
“What this indicates is that with the help of TRS in Hyderabad and BJP at the Centre, YSRCP wants to make it looks like TDP is stealing private data,” a political analyst said. Looks like YSRCP is doing everything in its capacity to ensure that TDP loses the upcoming assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh!
