The Telangana High Court has said that the MLAs who have defected from Congress to TRS, will certainly face an action as per the law but declined to take up the petition filed on Congress Legislature Party (CLP) merger row as emergency case. Advocate on behalf of Congress party Jandyala Ravi Shankar failed to convince the court with his arguments and so the case has been postponed to June 11.
But the advocate argued that if the court takes time, then TRS will definitely go ahead with the procedure to merge CLP with TRSLP. Taking this argument into consideration, the court said, if this happens, the court is there to object it and appropriate action will be taken immediately against the MLAs. “No legislature will run away from assembly and if the merge happens against constitution and law, necessary steps will follow,” said the court.
The Congress has also appealed to disqualify the MLAs for winning on party’s symbol and joining other party.
This decision of the High Court is partially in favour and against Congress. What would be it’s next step on CLP and TRSLP merger is something to be looked at.
