Whom To Blame For Maharshi’s Over-Budget?

Mahesh Babu’s Maharshi is one of the most anticipated films in this season and the film is riding with high expectations. But what is worrying the trade and industry circuits is its high budget.

While a few rumour mongers and some media folks are unnecessarily blaming superstar Mahesh Babu for no reason, but the fact is that director Vamshi Paidipally was the man behind Maharshi. As Mahesh is always prompt to the shootings and is a disciplined actor, he was never the cause for the additional costs of his films. Many in the industry know Mahesh as director’s actor and producer’s actor.

On the other hand, it is director Vamshi Paidipally who has complete control on Maharshi. Right from erecting big sets to choosing different locations to extending number of working days. The onus lies on director Vamshi. In addition to the making costs, Vamshi took a lot of time on script during the pre-production stage. No doubt, it’s good to work on script properly, but those costs also shot up adding to the overall budget of Maharshi.

Even Vamshi’s previous film Oopiri which got rave reviews couldn’t do well compared to its high budget. While the Telugu version did well, the Tamil version has failed to rake in moolah. Vamshi always wants to make his films look grand and lavish. There is nothing wrong in going for rich visuals. But at the same time, he also has to bring down the making costs of the film without affecting the quality. Since Vamshi is a good director, he has to understand producer’s concerns and make them earn more profits to both producers, distributors.

When it comes to Maharshi, the final judgment lies with the audiences who are gonna give verdict on May 9th.
