Now that the Cricket World Cup is in full swing and everyone sticking to their TV screens, the question on why the Indian team has not played a single match yet is on everyone’s mind. Today, on June 5, India will be playing its first match opposite South Africa. On the other hand, SA is already playing it third match today, after playing with England and Bangladesh on May 3 and June 2 respectively.
As per the earlier reports, the Indian team was supposed to play its first match on June 2 against Bangladesh. But ICC changed its schedule at the request of BCCI and this answer has, however, raised a few eyebrows. For selective matches, like against England on June 30, Virat and the team are likely to sport the new Orange jerseys, which is predominantly orange with a tint of blue. It is to avoid a colour clash with England’s blue jersey.
Today’s India vs SA match will be played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham and will begin at 1500 HRS IST. The team will have Virat Kohli (c), Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shikhar Dhawan, MS Dhoni (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, K.L. Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Vijay Shankar, Rohit Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav. However, it would still not be easy for India to go past South Africa considering their record in World Cups. In the four World Cup games these two teams have played, India has won just one and lost three.
