Putta quits TTD before being sacked

At last, senior Telugu Desam Party leader Putta Sudhakar Yadav on Wednesday stepped down as the chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams trust board, after putting up defiance for over three weeks.

His resignations comes hours after YSRC leader and Andhra Pradesh endowments minister Vellampalli Srinivas announced in Tirumala that the government would issue an ordinance abolishing the TTD trust board appointed by the previous TDP government.

Yadav sent his resignation letter to TTD chief executive officer Anil Kumar Singhal, stating that he was resigning from the post.

Ironically, he said he was quitting the chairman post due to “personal affairs,” instead of “personal reasons.” Yadav took over as the TTD trust board chairman in April 2018 for a period of two years.

In fact, the TTD trust board has already lost its relevance, as 10 out of 16 board members had already submitted their resignations from their post.

Even popular social worker Sudha Narayana Murthy, wife of Infosys founder-chairman Narayana Murthy, also resigned from her TTD membership, but only Yadav had clung to the post, stating that his was not a political appointment.

But after realising that his days are numbered because Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government will bring in ordinance sacking him from the post, Yadav had no option but to quit.

With the resignation of Yadav, decks have been cleared for the appointment of senior YSRC leader and former Ongole MP Y V Subba Reddy as the next TTD trust board chairman. Orders to this effect would be issued in a day or two.

“In all probability, Subba Reddy will take charge as TTD chairman on Saturday,” sources said.
