One of the senior-most leaders and former Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit has passed away. She was 81-year-old. Three-time Chief Minister Sheila had been ill due to age-related issues. She was admitted to a private hospital today morning at 10.30 AM and she died at 3.55 PM.
According to doctors, Sheila had got a cardiac arrest again at 3.15 PM after which she was put on a ventilator and she finally died at 3.55 pm.
Sheila was the longest-serving chief minister of Delhi. She served as the Delhi CM for 15 years during which Delhi underwent a lot of transformation including Delhi Metro. She had been the MLA from 1998 to 2013. In 2014 polls, she was defeated by Arvind Kejriwal. She later worked as Kerala governor.
Priyanka Gandhi, General Secretary of AICC in charge of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, and several other Congress leaders have expressed grief over Sheila Dikshit’s demise.
