In a major rejig, the centre has announced the appointment of the Governors for five Indian states. 4-time BJP MP from Secunderabad constituency and former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya has been appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
On the other hand, Tamil Nadu BJP President Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has been made the Governor of Telangana. Dr Tamilisai has been a loyal BJP supporter since 1999. She will replace the former Governor K Narasimhan in Telangana.
The centre has also appointed Kalraj Mishra, the present Governor of Himachal Pradesh, as the Governor of Rajasthan. And then, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the current Governor of Maharashtra, has been transferred as the Governor of Maharashtra. Finally, Arif Mohammed Khan, former Union Minister of Civil aviation and Energy, is appointed as the Governor of Kerala.
All the above five leaders are senior BJP leaders, and the Modi-led government’s latest move to appoint them as the Governors is being seen as a giant step to consolidate the party’s prospects in the respective states.
