The issue of appointing a new president for Telangana state unit of BJP has led to caste war in Telangana BJP.
Reddys and BCs are competing with each other to secure these post on ‘caste grounds’.
Reddy BJP leaders claim that Reddy caste is a dominant political force in Telangana state since decades and only a Reddy leader can bring BJP to power in Telangana in 2023 Assembly polls.
BCs on the other hand counter this saying that Reddy’s have lost their prominence in state politics long ago and with the downfall of Congress in Telangana, the Reddy’s chapter in Telangana in politics is over.
AP Jithender Reddy from TRS, DK Aruna from Congress from Reddy community joined BJP in Telangana.
Jithender Reddy is bringing pressure on BJP national leadership to appoint him as state president.
On the other hand, BJP firebrand leader from Karimnagar Bandi Sanjay, who defeated KCR’s close aide B Vinod Kumar in Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat in recent polls, is lobbying hard to secure the state president post.
Bandhi Sanjay is a BC hailing from Munnur kapu community.
The incumbent president Dr Laxman is also a BC and he wants high command to continue him for another term since BJP bagged four Lok Sabha seats recently under his leadership, which was not expected by anyone.
The new president is expected to be appointed in December and it remains to be seen whether a Reddy or a BC makes it to this coveted post.
