Another Setback For T-TDP; Virender Goud To Join BJP

In what can be called a major setback for the already ailing Telangana TDP, the party’s young leader and Telugu Yuvatha State President Tulla Virender Goud is all set to quit TDP and join the BJP on October 3rd. Virender resigned from his posts on Monday. Virender is expected to head the BJP’s youth wing BJYM in the state.

Virender will be joining the saffron party in the presence of the party’s Working President JP Nadda in New Delhi. Incidentally, Virender’s elder brother Vijayender will also be joining the BJP on the same day. However, contrary to the ongoing speculations, the Goud brothers’ father and former TDP leader T Devender Goud will not be quitting the TDP for now.

In a letter addressed to the TDP National President Chandrababu Naidu on Monday, Virender Goud said rather strongly that the T-TDP is going against the very principles the party was established with in its struggle for political existence in the state.

Virender Goud contested on a TDP ticket in the 2014 elections and lost in the Chevella Parliamentary constituency. He also lost the 2018 Assembly elections from the Uppal constituency, where he contested as an MLA. Since then, rumours about him shifting loyalties to the BJP have been doing the rounds in political circles. He recently met former BJP President and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss his entry into the BJP.
