Jagan extends Naidu’s scheme for journos!

For a change, YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has extended a scheme introduced by his predecessor N Chandrababu Naidu without any modifications.

There have been no changes in the scheme, for the simple reason that it pertains to life insurance of journalists.

In 2016, the then Naidu government introduced the Full Comprehensive Insurance Policy scheme for a sum assured of Rs 10 lakh for working journalists in Andhra Pradesh.

The scheme was later extended for the same amount to the journalists in 2017-18 and 2018-19 as well.

Since the scheme has expired by April 2019, the Commissioner, Information & Public Relations, Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada requested the chief minister to issue orders extending the full Comprehensive Insurance Policy (accidental) Scheme to the Journalists for the current financial year, up to May 26, 2020.

Accordingly, the Jagan government extended the scheme, but made a change in its name. It renamed the Full Comprehensive Insurance Policy (accidental) Scheme for the Journalists as “YSR Journalist Bheema.”

The other terms and conditions of the scheme remain the same.
