Huzurnagar is considered as Congress bastion. TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy has strong hold over the constituency. For the last 10 years (2009 to 2019), Uttam from Congress has been representing the constituency and won in 2009, 2014 and 2018 elections.
Even in 2018 general election, Uttam had won the seat with 7466 votes majority against TRS candidate Saidi Reddy.
However, Uttam has moved to Lok Sabha after winning 2019 LS election. And this had facilitated the by-election in Huzurnagar in which Uttam’s wife Padmavathi contested and she has lost to TRS candidate Sanampudi Saidi Reddy.
Saidi Reddy, of TRS, bagged 40,000-plus (43,284 votes) majority against Padmavathi Reddy. With this, dominance of Uttam in the constituency ended after 10 long years.
This is a big victory to ruling TRS which is in the news for wrong reasons over RTC strike. KCR has got boost with party’s victory in Huzurnagar. And it is major set back to Congress and TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy both personally and professionally as his wife lost the seat.
TRS working president KTR, who personally monitored the election and even campaigned in the constituency, is behind the TRS victory in Huzurnagar. With perfect planning and execution, TRS bagged the Huzurnagar.
