Jagan Govt Needs To Pay Close Attention

It is more or less a dull day for main stream local newspapers in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday with not much scope for spicy and juicy news. The generally anti-establishment dailies like Andhra Jyothy and Eenadu, however, tried to dish out some spicy stuff by highlighting actor and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan’s change of avatar from red to saffron.

Eenadu carried a relatively big report on Pawan’s statement that he had always been closer to the BJP, while Andhra Jyothy published a pointer on his outburst against alleged conversion of Hindus into Christianity with the support of the Jagan Mohan Reddy government.

Both the dailies, as usual, also gave a lot of prominence to Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu’s third day meetings in Kurnool, wherein he expressed anguish over the YSRC government pushing the state further into debts, forgetting the fact that it was his government which was responsible for mounting debts in the last five years.

Andhra Jyothy also highlighted Naidu’s attempts to stall exodus of his party leaders from the TDP into YSRC.

The submission of annual revenue requirement (ARR) reports by power distribution companies in the state to the AP electricity regulatory commission proposing no hike in power tariff was actually the highlight of the day’s news, as it brings a lot of relief to the customers. Eenadu and Sakshi focussed on this news on their front pages.

Andhra Jyothy, however, pushed this news inside, but carried a speculative story on the possibility of increase in RTC fares in the state after a gap of four years, on the lines of Telangana. And it was the banner story for this daily aimed at cornering the YSRC government.

Sakshi came out with a positive story as its flyer – the farmers of Rayalaseema have gone in for a second crop after a long time, thanks to heavy rains which filled up water bodies to the brim. The farmers are going to get bumper crop this season, thanks to YSR Rythu Bharosa.

Eenadu, which is known to carry at least one special story every day, has published a story on rampant availability of narcotics in educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh. It makes an interesting reading and requires the attention of the government.

Otherwise, there is not much interesting news in the dailies today.
