There are protests in a few villages of the capital Amaravati these days after chief minister Jaganmohan Reddy’s announcement of having three capitals in the State.
The protests are more about shifting the capital from Amaravati and thus losing the market for their lands, rather than the capital itself.
If they say that Kurnool will get just two zerox centers and four tea stalls with the High Court, then why are they holding protests against shifting of High Court is the big question and it points at the possibility of the “investors” behind the agitation.
There were protests initially by some farmers and farm labourers in 2015 against the land pooling. But, there were no hurling of abuses and curses on the chief minister like what we witness these days in Amaravati villages.
The farmers and farm labourers cried, shed tears and were confined to homes. Even when Medha Patkar and other national leaders visited them, they were not allowed to take out any rallies or hold protests in those days.
A small farmer, Boyapati Sudharani, cried for taking away their lands by the government by force and calling it voluntary land pooling. But, today she hurls abuses and curses and not cries!
There is fear of losing investment than the fear of losing the capital. Be it My Amaravati-My Brick, the Happy Nest and the Amaravati Bonds, it was all manufactured by the TDP sympathisers and a handful of NRIs who invested to project Chandrababu Naidu as a successful leader and his project of Amaravati as successful project.
The fears of that manufactured investment are now visible clearly in Amaravati villages.
The Kammas of Guntur and Krishna district never ever dreamt of TDP losing power and Chandrababu Naidu defeated. They never allowed the topic of Jaganmohan Reddy winning the elections, even for discussions.
Even today, they display their hate against Jaganmohan Reddy and love for Chandrababu Naidu, when they protest or speak.
Jaganmohan Reddy might have completed six months in office and for sure will complete his five years, but it takes decades for these people to accept that Jaganmohan Reddy is the chief minister.
A good number of Kammas in Krishna and Guntur district strongly believe that one day Jaganmohan Reddy will go to jail and Chandrababu Naidu will come back to power with MLAs defecting.
These feelings are visible and they reflect in the so called protests that are seen in Amaravati and projected in the print and electronic media that backs TDP and Chandrababu Naidu leadership.
