Telugu Desam Party headed by former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu had been several attempts to retain its identity in Kadapa district dominated in the past by the Congress and later by YSR Congress.
But whenever the TDP made such an attempt, it had only received huge setbacks. Between 2014 and 2019, Naidu tried his best to strengthen the TDP in Kadapa district.
He successfully roped in leaders like C Adinarayana Reddy from YSRC and N Varadarajulu Reddy and D L Ravindra Reddy from Congress, but the party did not gain anything in the 2019 elections.
The entry of Adinarayana Reddy from YSRC triggered groupism in the party with former MLA P Ramasubba Reddy strongly resisting his entry. Both the leaders encouraged their groups in the party.
Just before 2019 elections, Naidu managed to convince Adinarayana Reddy and Ramasubba Reddy to bury their differences.
He made Adi to contest from Kadapa parliamentary seat and Ramasubba Reddy from Jammalamadugu, but both of them lost the elections miserably.
After the elections, everybody started deserting the TDP.
Adinarayana Reddy quietly defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party to safeguard his business interests. Ramasubba Reddy remained in the TDP, but has been inactive in the party since then.
According to latest info, Ramasubba Reddy is all set to join the YSR Congress party shortly.
He has got clearance from YSRC president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy after he spoke with district YSRC leaders. He is learnt to have informed his followers and supporters, sources said.
Though TDP senior leaders are said to be trying to convince Ramasubba Reddy to stay back in the party, there is no confirmation or denial from him, sources said.
