In the midst of police excess during the lock down across the state, AP chief minister Jaganmohan Reddy took time to give a soft class to the State police on being people-friendly.
There have been reports of the police resorting to massive cane charge on the people during the lock down all over.
The police were caught on cameras beating people merciless and destroying their vehicles, found on the roads.
The police were also caught on beating the people going for agriculture work. In some places, people going out with family members were also targeted by the police mercilessly.
On Friday, a youth from Krishna district hanged himself to death after being mercilessly beaten by the Bapatla police in Guntur district. The youth was on his way from Tirupathi to Kaikaluru by road on his bike.
The police spotted him on the road, stopped him, destroyed his motor cycle and beat him up on the spot. Later, they took him to the police station where he was locked for the night.
On being released in the morning, the youth was upset and was unable to bear with the pains. He recorded a video and sent it to one of his friends before taking the extreme decision.
While the AP DGP had ordered enquiry into the incident, the chief minister asked the police not to be violent despite the work pressure.
The chief minister expressed dissatisfaction over the excess behaviour of the police on duty in enforcing the lock down.
He asked the police to allow farmers and the agriculture labourers to attend to the agriculture works in the villages, though not in groups. The agriculture activity is relaxed from the lock-down till noon every day.
Similarly, the chief minister had also asked the police to allow people to move on the roads in the morning till 11 AM for essentials.
Even after the stipulated period, the chief minister had told the police to allow people only after checking the purpose of their visit.
Will the police listen and be friendly?
