A toxic gas leakage at Vizag chemical plant kills eight individuals

Eight individuals including a kid apparently died after harmful gas spilled from a chemical plant of a global company in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam. 200 individuals have been admitted to medical clinic. Ambulances, fire motors and police officers have arrived at the compound plant, authorities said.

Inhabitants close to the chemical gas plant of LG Polymers India Pvt Ltd in the area’s town RR Venkatapuram complained of eye burning sensation and asphyxiation I.e trouble in breathing, authorities said. They were immediately taken to emergency hospital, they said.

“There is gas leakage found at LG Polymers in Gopalpatnam. Requesting Citizens around these areas not to come out of houses for the sake of security precautions,” the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation tweeted.

In a footage, approximately a hundred people are seen on a cluttered road surroundings, trying to save the injured and rushing them into ambulances. An industrial siren was heard in the background as an indication of safety measure. People in masks are captured carrying affected people who shown signs of breathlessness. They were made to sit on the road divider until the ambulances arrived.

In one of the videos captured by bystanders, a woman is found to have collapsed suddenly at the divider and around 10 people were lying on the road in inebriated condition. However, it was not unknown whether they are conscious or unconsciously lying.

Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation also tweeted about the core and vulnerable areas of map in satellite view in google maps and appealed to citizens to use wet masks or cloth masks as a preventive measure to protect themselves from the harmful gas effect.
