First In Country: AP Allows Film Shootings, But For A Fee

In a remarkable step and a huge relief to the beleaguered Film & TV industry, Andhra Pradesh state government is first in the country to allow permissions to shootings for Film & TV industry. AP state government has officially issued a GO allowing permissions to the producers of Film & TV under single window system by APSFTVTDC Ltd. The I&PR department of AP government issued GO No. 45 today.

The Government is going to charge nominal fee payable to accord the shooting permissions. So, this is going to be a revenue source for the state government. Chief Secretary to AP Government, Nilam Sawhney, has been cascaded and circulated.

The GO said, “The Government of AP has authorized the AP State Film, TV & Theater Development Corporation (APSFTVTDC) to issue shooting permissions in the locations controlled by the Government Departments and also to collect the prescribed fee as in the indicated in the annexure.”

“To remit the shooting permission charges payable to concerned Departments/PSUs as mentioned in GO No.2 dated 6.1.2006, with the Corporation as caution deposit, which may be refunded after production of shooting completion certificate from the concerned Departments/PSUs,” the GO further said.

It said, after careful and thorough examination of the proposal of the Managing Director, APSFTVTDC, the shooting permission may be given free of cost to producers of Film & TV to encourage more production of films in AP state.
