HC Serious on Telangana: Tells To Do Random Tests

Amidst rapid increase of number of Corona cases in Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana state, the High Court is serious on the state government over not implementing its orders on the Corona virus pandemic. The HC asked the Telangana state government why it was not following its orders and warned that it would book the officials of the Health, Medical and Family department under the contempt of the court.

The HC is serious that its previous orders making Corona tests mandatory for all the deaths in hospitals have been “grossly ignored”. The court said it would make the Principal Secretary of Health & Medical department and Director of Public Health responsible for this.

The Advocate General of Telangana state government had conveyed to the High Court that the state government had appealed to the Supreme Court and it is waiting for the Apex Court to take up the case. The High Court has directed the Telangana state government to implement High Court’s orders till the case comes to hearing in the Supreme Court. It asked the state government to conduct the random tests.

The HC has opined that the adequate number of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kits were not supplied to doctors and thus it resulted in spreading the Covid-19 to a team of doctors. HC further asked the state government to give the facts in the media bulletin and asked it to not give misleading information on the exact number of Corona positive cases. The High Court said, “If the truth on Corona cases doesn’t come out, how do the people know the severity of the issue?”

Meanwhile, the HC has ordered the Health, Medical & Family Welfare department to file its affidavit by June 17.
