All the 17 MLAs YSRCP has are from the Seemandhra region. Five more have recently resigned to the Congress and announced their decision to join the Congress recently. They are also from the Seemandhra region. There are four more ready to join the Jagan bandwagon and the PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana has already expelled all the 9 MLAs from the party. Apart from these, YSRCP is claiming 20 more MLAs of different parties were in touch with them in the Seemandhra region. Even impartial observers say that at least 10 more were getting ready to join the YSR Congress.
In Telangana, YSRCP has strong leaders in Nalgonda, Medak, Mahabubnagar and Ranga Reddy districts. They are making hectic efforts to attract leaders of other parties, with special focus on MLAs who have winning chances in the next elections. Some of the MLAs who had already decided on joining the YSR Congress, are awaiting the decision of the central government on the Telangana issue. They feel that they would not have any problem if the centre decides for or against the statehood issue. Sharmila is going to resume her pada yatra on February 6, in the Telangana region. It is learnt that some MLAs might announce their decision to join the YSR Congress during her yatra.
