The High Court of Andhra Pradesh gave a big shock to the government of Andhra Pradesh when it reinstated Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as the State Election Commissioner after the government had removed him from the post.
The government of Andhra Pradesh, especially Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, was irked when Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar refused to go ahead with the local body elections in March, citing Coronavirus. Following that, the government passed an ordinance, removing Nimmagadda from his post, and appointing a retired Tamil Nadu Judge in his stead.
However, when Nimmagadda went to the High Court, the judgement was passed in his favor. The government of Andhra Pradesh got yet another shock from the Supreme Court when it refused to issue stay orders thrice, on the judgement passed by the High Court.
The High Court of Andhra Pradesh has now ordered Nimmagadda to meet with the Governor of Andhra Pradesh and make sure that the Governor enforces the orders issued by the High Court.
Investigation on this case is still going on in the High Court, and the rest of it has been postponed to next Friday.
