The YSRCP is slowly absorbing all of TDP’s members, slowly diminishing the power and capacity of the opposition. The most recent entry into YSRCP is Visakhapatnam MLA Vasupalli Ganesh.
According to the norms of YSRCP, Vasupalli did not adorn the YSRCP flag, but made his son adorn the same, hinting at his association with YSRCP pretty directly. Vasupalli is barely the first person the YSRCP absorbed into it, as many before him have been taken into the party.
Maddali Giri, Vallabhaneni Vamsi, Karanam Balaram are just some of the names that have joined the YSRCP from TDP. These three have unofficially joined the YSRCP, despite still officially being members of the TDP, given that they have been criticising TDP for a long time now.
With Vasupalli now a member of the YSRCP, TDP is down to just 19 members. Vijayasai Reddy is said to have played a major role in absorbing Vasupalli into YSRCP, from TDP. Earlier, it was said that Ganta Srinivas Rao was being absorbed into YSRCP, when Vijayasai Reddy was in isolation because of Coronavirus. It was also said that Vijayasai was not okay with the idea.
Hence, it is now being said that Vijayasai took control of the situation as soon as he was back in action, and brought Vasupalli into YSRCP, by directly talking to Jagan about it. Vijayasai apparently thought that involving Ganta in YSRCP would cause a lot of tension, which made him opt for Vasupalli.
On the other hand, it is believed that Vijayasai got Vasupalli to join YSRCP by promising him more success in all of Vasuappli’s businesses. The main aim of the YSRCP, according to several politicians, is to reduce the position of the TDP from the primary opposition party.
However, fact remains that the TDP will continue to be the primary opposition party in AP, due to a lack of a better party in the region.
