Jagan takes part in Garuda Seva, declaration not signed

When TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy announced that the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Jagan Mohan Reddy doesn’t need to sign the declaration to enter Lord Venkateswara Swamy’s temple, opposition members and devotees all over the state and country started to protest against it. According to the tradition, a person who does not belong to the Hindu religion is supposed to sign a declaration, stating his/her faith, when entering the sacred temple of Tirumala.

Despite the many protests, Jagan has visited the holy temple of Tirumala, without signing the declaration, and has even offered Pattu clothes to the Lord, on behalf of the government. Jagan was even spotted sporting the ‘Mudu Namalu’ of Lord Venkateswara. Jagan also took part in the Garuda Seva, after his Darshan.

Opposition members, especially members of the BJP and TDP have been protesting for days in Tirumala, demanding that Jagan needs to sign the declaration. As a pre-emptive action, these members have been house-arrested by the concerned authorities this morning, so that they wouldn’t interrupt the Chief Minister’s visit to the temple.

Earlier today, Bajrang Dal activists had planned to protest in front of Jagan’s house in Hyderabad, at Lotus Pond. However, with prior information of the same, the Police department had been able to protect the AP CM’s house by deploying 300 personnel, and by erecting barricades up to 200 meters from his house.

Recently, Jagan had met with Jal Shakti Minister Shekhawat in Delhi, and requested him to clear the pending amount of Rs 4,000 Crores, so that the Polavaram project would be completed. Shekhawat is also said to have promised to do the same, and give his word about getting the Polavaram project completed by the end of 2021. On the other hand, Jagan had also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah after that, and discussed several issues, including the sanction of CBI enquiry into the land scams of Amaravati.
