Exclusive: Covid effect: Rajamouli forced to change his plans

Rajamouli’s big-budget action thriller RRR is one of the most expensive projects in Indian cinema and the master craftsman is mounting it on a lavish scale. The film has an ensemble star cast and best-in-class technical crew.

Going into the story, Rajamouli planned to shoot key portions of the film in Nalgonda, Gujarat, and Pune. But the onset of Covid-19 pandemic has forced him to change his plans.

With the safety of cast and crew in mind, Rajamouli dropped the idea of shooting in multiple locations. Covid-19 transmission is a real risk while shooting with huge support cast and crew in distant locations and Rajamouli is in no mood to take any chances.

The ace director now wants to wrap up the remaining portion of RRR in specially designed sets in Hyderabad. The likes of Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgan, and other stars will be shooting in Hyderabad itself.

Artificial sets, CGI, and VFX will be extensively used to enhance the final output.

Also, Rajamouli is planning to complete the filming of RRR at the earliest so as to avoid any further complications.
