Hours after Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar condemned the arrest of Republic TV Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, Smriti Irani too condemned the arrest.The Union Minister of Textiles Smriti Irani took to Microblogging site Twitter to condemn Arnab’s arrest. She said people in the free press who are not supporting Arnab are tactically supporting fascism.
“Those in the free press who don’t stand up today in support of Arnab, you are now tactically in support of fascism. You may not like him, you may not approve of him, you may despise his very existence but if you stay silent you support suppression. Who speaks if you are next?” Smriti Irani’s Tweet read.
Smriti Irani who has contacted the novel Coronavirus last week is recovering from the virus slowly. She announced the news of getting infected with the pandemic n social media.
The Mumbai Police arrested Arnab Goswami from his residence on Wednesday on the charges of abetting suicide of an interior designer. Arnab alleged that police physically assaulted him while pushing him into the police vehicle.
