Victory Venkatesh has been on a roll lately. He scored back-to-back hits like ‘Guru’, ‘F2’ and ‘Venky Mama’. He is now working on ‘Narappa’ directed by Srikanth Addala. This rural drama is a remake of Tamil super hit flick ‘Asuran’ directed by Vetrimaran and Dhanush was the main lead.
The first posters released got a good response from the audience and Venkatesh fit the role of a rural father with ease. The film was supposed to get wrapped up a long back but the lockdown forced the makers to delay it. The dynamics of films and its business has changed completely since the Coronavirus struck the world.
The makers of ‘Narappa’ are severely affected by it as they cannot get good rates for digital rights since it is a remake and ‘Asuran’ is already available online. On the other hand, it is a thriller with a rural backdrop with no commercial elements. Films like these attract only a limited audience in theatres. On top of everything, Srikanth Addala’s reputation took a severe beating after ‘Brahmotsavam’.
The team of ‘Narappa’ has spent a good budget and they are wondering if they can be able to recover it or not. We need to wait and see what happens.
