It is known that following pop sensation Rihanna’s post on the ongoing farmer agitation, many celebrities in India joined the ‘India together’ campaign and called for unity.
In the following suit, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Monday ordered a probe into tweets of celebrities on farmers’ protest.
The probe was ordered after Congress registered a complaint with Deshmukh. The Congress party reported that the celebrities had coordinated as the posts are similar and were posted around the same time.
“It has been revealed that there were the same posts by celebrities and at the same time. Hence it will be investigated why it has happened,” Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said. He confirmed that the state’s intelligence unit will probe the case.
Congress leader Sachin Sawant said that Akshay and Saina tweeted the same thing and Suniel Shetty tagged a BJP leader. Congress want the government to probe whether the celebrities were pressurized by the Centre to tweet this.
