The candidates backed by the ruling party, YCP have registered an immense majority in the third phase of the AP Panchayat elections. YCP-backed candidates carried out a clean sweep in the Palnadu area. Also, the YCP-backed candidates won a majority of seats in the Chittoor district too.
On the other hand, the result in Chandrababu’s own constituency, Kuppam has come as a shock to the TDP. In the Kuppam constituency, elections were held for a total of 89 grama panchayats, with YCP-backed candidates winning 74 seats. The TDP has won only 14 seats and the Congress won one seat. In Chittoor district, out of a total of 264 panchayats, 91 were consensus, 145 seats were won by YCP, 28 were won by Congress.
